FEDERATED YOUTH FOUNDATION
One way Eau Claire Energy Cooperative demonstrates the Cooperative Principles and carries out its mission is through our scholarship program. The Cooperative Principles often referred to with our scholarship program are Cooperative Principle 5 – Education, Training, and Information and Cooperative Principle 7 – Concern for Community.
Each year, ECEC may award up to $19,000 in higher education scholarships to students of member families through the Federated Youth Foundation scholarship program. Sixteen $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students attending area high schools with two $1,000 scholarships awarded to students attending area post-secondary institutions. In addition, ECEC annually provides one $1,000 scholarship to CVTC for a student in its Electrical Distribution Program.
These scholarships are funded by forfeited capital credits and placed into an account held in trust by Federated Youth Foundation. These funds have no impact on members’ bills.
In 2026, sixteen $1,000 scholarships were awarded. The 2027 Scholarship applications will open November 2, 2026 and are due January 8, 2027.
